First, you need your Windows PC connected to a network either through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Note that if you connect your PC to your network via Ethernet, you need a second Ethernet port in order to connect your VPN-incompatible device. You can buy an internet connection card to add a second port on your desktop PC. Laptops normally come with an Ethernet port, and you can connect the laptop over Wi-Fi.
Note: When you start, make sure you are not connected to NordVPN. The tutorial will specify when you can connect.
- Open the Network and Sharing Center by right-clicking the network icon in the system tray and selecting Open Network and Sharing Center.
- In the Network and Sharing Center, open Change adapter settings.
- You will see all the network interfaces you have. There should be at least three interfaces: the one with the internet connection, the one where you will connect your VPN-incompatible device, and the TAP adapter used by the NordVPN app to connect to VPN. Right-click the TAP-NordVPN Windows adapter and select Properties.
Please note: After adjusting the adapter, you will need to switch to the according protocol within the NordVPN app. In this case, you will need to switch either to the TCP or UDP protocol.
- Open the Sharing tab, enable Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection, and select the name of the network interface which you will share the connection with. Click OK.
- Now connect the VPN-incompatible device to your PC using an Ethernet cable. Once you see the Ethernet interface trying to identify the connection, you can connect to NordVPN using the NordVPN app.
- Congratulations! Your VPN connection is now shared to your VPN-incompatible device.
